Neo Black Movement of Africa (NBA), in commemoration of its 43rd annual convention, has renovated a block of six classrooms in Adolor Primary School, Okabere, in Ikpoba Okha Local Government Area of Edo State.
The Tide’s source reports that the block of classrooms, which were also furnished with chairs, was part of the group’s contributions to nation-building.
The source also reports that the group, drawn from across the globe, converged on Benin, the Edo State Capital, for its three-day convention to brainstorm and proffer solutions to several societal issues.
National President of the group, Chief Ese Kpakor, while inaugurating the project, said renovation of the school and provision of chairs were parts of the movement’s responsibility to the society.
“We are here to celebrate our national convention, and as part of our contributions to the society, we have changed the roof of the school and provided chairs, tables and books for the children.
“We are also going to provide toilets for them.
“We are celebrating our 43rd annual convention, and whenever we do that, we look for a project that will have impacts on the common man, because NBA is a humanitarian organisation.
“The classrooms were in a bad state when we came here, and because we know that we can’t leave everything in the hands of the government, we decided to do the little we could,” Kpakor said.
Speaking at the occasion, the Head Teacher of the school, Mrs Florence Ogbeide, expressed appreciation to the group for the project.
“I must appreciate you for the way you have provided for these children. The community is also happy. You have come to rescue us and we thank you immensely,” she said.
The Odiwonwere (Head) of the Community, Pa Felix Agbonoba, thanked the group for the project and prayed God to reward its gesture.
The Tide’s source reports that the group also paid a visit to the Oba of Benin, Ewuare II, in his palace.
At the palace, Kpakor said the group was at the palace to intimate the royal father of its convention, adding that the movement, as a humanitarian organisation, was concerned with the challenges facing the society.
Responding, the Oba hailed the group for its efforts at protecting African culture and faith.
He also expressed appreciation to the group for rehabilitating the school, and urged it to raise the bar of protecting the normative system and cultural values of Benin kingdom.
The royal father granted the request by the group to send delegates to its convention, holding in Amagba.
