FCET, Omoku Gets New Provost
President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the reappointment of Dr. Emmanuel Ikenyiri as Provost, Federal College Of Education (Technical) Omoku.
This was contained in a letter dated 9th of May 2022 with reference No. FME/HME/Vol/1/234, signed by the Minister of Education, Mallam Adamu Adamu.
The letter, which stated that the reappointment is with immediate effect, also congratulated Dr. Ikenyiri on his reappointment and wished him fruitful tenure in office.
Ikenyiri, an indigene of Obrikom Community in Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area (ONELGA), of Rivers State, and the 7th Provost/Chief Executive Officer of the institution established in 1988, was first appointed in May 2018 by the Federal Government.
He joined the services of the college in 1999, rose to the rank of Chief Lecturer in 2011, and had served the College in various capacities, including: Member, College Management and Academic Board; Head of Department, Educational Psychology; and Coordinator, Guidance and Counselling Unit.
Others are: Coordinator, Students Industrial Works Experience (SIWES); Dean, School of Education; and Directorate of Quality Assurance. He has lso erved in various outstanding adhoc committees.
Meanwhile, the new Provost has promised more better days ahead for staff and students of the College during his 2nd tenure.
Speaking while addressing a congregation of Jubilant Management and staff of the college to kick start his 2nd tenure in office, he stated that the college will continue to witness more tremendous developments in terms of infrastructure, expansion of its academic programmes, staff and students welfares, peace, unity and progress of the institution, and solicited for coorperation from all.
The visibly elated Provost, who specially thanked God Almighty, President Muhammadu Buhari, the Hon. Education Ministers, Members of the College Governing Council led by Elder statesman, Alhaji Umaru Aliyu, Management, staff, students and other well-meaning Nigerians for his reappointment, promised not to disappoint them.
All those who spoke at the meeting such as the representative of the college Governing Council and the Deputy Provost, Dr. M.M.M. Ekpa, the Registrar, Dr. Godpower Ahiakwo, the Chairman, Committee of Deans, Diepriye Fiberesima, the college branch Chairmen of COEASU, SSUCOEN, and NASU Comrade Richard Onuotu, Ekine Pakaye, and Ireju Nwokocha, respectively, congratulated the Provost on his re-appointment, which they described as well deserved and promised to continue to support him to move the college more forward.
