Church Of Nigeria Approves Varsity For N’Delta

The Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion, has approved a university for Niger Delta.
The Archbishop, Province of Niger Delta, Church of Nigeria Anglican Communion, Most Rev. Blessing Enyindah, disclosed this in an interview with newsmen at Abam-Ama, Okrika in Rivers State, during the 1st session of the 7th Synod of the Diocese of Okrika, at the weekend.
The theme for the synod was, “The Unconquered Lands”.
Enyindah said the province was already sourcing for funds towards the actualisation of the university.
He listed some benefits the institution would bring to the region to include the expansion of educational opportunities, creation of jobs and promotion of businesses.
Also speaking, the Bishop Diocese of Okrika, Rt. Rev. Enoch Atuboyedia, called for massive investment in agriculture to create employment for the people.
Atuboyedia, who said this in his presidential address at the synod, also called for unity among the political leadership in Nigeria in order to create a new nation.
The cleric commended the state Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike, for the astonishing speed in the execution of projects as well as his boldness, and firm determination and unwavering commitment to selfless service, and pleaded with him to look into the plight of pensioners and civil servants.
He called on members of the diocese to avail themselves of the ongoing voter registration exercise to either get new permanent voters card or revalidate existing ones.
Atuboyedia charged all parishes within the diocese to establish food banks and raise resources for the needy and for the suffering masses in the communities.
Speaking on the theme for the synod, he said it behoves on Christians across the world to take the faith to areas yet to be reached by the gospel of Christ.
According to him, by so doing, they would be fulfilling the injunctions of Christ which is to preach the gospel to all nations.

HoS Hails Fubara Over Provision of Accommodation for Permanent Secretaries

The Head of Service (HoS) of Rivers State, Dr. Mrs. Inyingi S. I. Brown, has commended Governor Sir Siminalayi Fubara, GSSRS, for approving befitting accommodation for Permanent Secretaries in the state.

According to the Head of Service, Governor Fubara has continued to demonstrate uncommon commitment to the welfare of civil servants in Rivers State, stressing that such gestures underscore his people-oriented leadership style. As part of activities to mark the governor’s birthday, the Body of Permanent Secretaries announced the sponsorship of 329 Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) forms for indigent students across the state.

A breakdown of the initiative shows that 319 forms will be distributed across the 319 political wards in Rivers State, while five forms are allocated to non-indigenes and five forms to persons living with disabilities.
