NGO Offers Free Medical Service To Lagos Community
A non-governmental organisation, Beulah World Initiative (BWI), at the weekend offered free medical outreach to residents of Mangoro and Dopemu communities in Lagos State.
The Tide source reports that no fewer than 80 people including men, women and children benefited from the health mission held in Ajakaiye St., Onipetesi Estate, Mangoro.
The services administered by the team of doctors included medical checks, eye test/treatment, free reading glasses, deworming for children/adults, clothing for the needy as well as health talks.
In her remarks, Chi-Chi Ononiwu, the visioner of the initiative , said the aim was to influence the society, based on community impact via social responsibility.
“BWI is non-profit, a faith-based organisation, it has been in existence for years and we have reached out to over 59 communities in Lagos State including Maroko, Mushin, Igando and even Ogun.
“So, today we are here to extend same service to Mangoro community here in Dopemu being part of our taking responsibility for social transformation and restoring the sanity of our communities.
“The idea behind the vision of this foundation is to bring transformational changes to the people in communities, particularly in the grassroots and suburbs.
“This is an awesome scene for me, affecting lives as to health, those with poor sight are given glasses, we have good stuffs, clothing, health talks and that gives me joy,” she said.
According to her, the organisation has by extension of this service organised skills acquisitions to the rural dwellers and also plans to go to Osun.
Mrs Esther Benjamin, a petty trader, lauded the initiative, saying it was a good development.
