CRSG Receives Another Batch Of Covid-19 Vaccines
Cross River State Government, has received 105, 000 doses of Mordena and 11, 000 AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccines.
State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Betta Edu and Director-General of the Cross River State Primary Healthcare Development Agency, Dr. Janet Ekpenyong, disclosed this during the start of the second phase of vaccination against the pandemic.
Speaking, Epkenyong said about 120, 000 people would be vaccinated, adding that the Mordena doses were for people receiving their first vaccination, while the AstraZeneca vaccine would be administered on those coming for the second dose.
“The Covid-19 keeps mutating and has caused a lot of havoc globally, which underscores the need to ensure that more people get vaccinated. We have 105, 000 doses of Mordena for first time takers of the vaccination and 11,000 AstraZeneca vaccines for those coming for the second dose.
“Much is expected of us to get almost 120,000 people vaccinated and we are poised to actualise this,” she said.
Epkenyong, who urged all Cross River people to get vaccinated, thanked the health workers for their proactiveness in ensuring that the state emerged the best in containing the spread of the pandemic.
On her part, Edu assured members of the public of government’s resolute to keep the citizens safe from the deadly virus, adding that with the health workers’ assistance, the state achieved 117 per cent coverage of the target population in the last exercise.
She also urged residents to come out for vaccination and not take chances or gamble with their lives as the number of cases was rising on a daily basis.
The commissioner said the vaccines would be available in all parts of the state stressing that the people who have died of the Covid-19 pandemic were those who had not been vaccinated.
Also speaking, the state Immunisation Officer, Joy Chabo, said Cross River State received the highest number of vaccines in the South-South, because of its impressive performance in the last phase of the vaccination.
She explained that the Delta Variant had not yet been found in the state, but charged everyone to make sure that they get vaccinated to ensure immunity in the state.
Representative of the World Health Organisation (WHO), Dr. Pella Umar, who commended the state for its effort in fighting the pandemic, charged members of the public to take the vaccine to boost immunity of the population by at least 95 per cent.

RSG INAUGURATES ARMED FORCES REMEMBRANCE DAY COMMITTEE
The Rivers State Government has inaugurated a Central Planning Committee to organize the celebration of the 2026 Armed Forces Remembrance Day (AFRD) in the State.
The committee was formally inaugurated by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Benibo Anabraba in Port Harcourt, last Thursday.
Dr Anabraba who also serves as Chairman of the Committee
highlighted the State Government’s deep appreciation for the sacrifices of Nigeria’s fallen heroes who laid down their lives for the nation’s peace and unity.
“These heroes have given their lives for the security and peace of our nation and deserve to be celebrated. The Armed Forces Remembrance Day is an opportunity to show our gratitude for their sacrifice,” he said.
Dr. Anabraba further extended recognition to all Security Agencies in the State, emphasizing the importance of the event in appreciating their contributions to national security and sovereignty.
The annual Armed Forces Remembrance Day, observed on January 15 across the country is dedicated to remember Nigeria’s departed soldiers and honouring the nation’s veterans.
