EFCC Arrests Five Suspected Internet Fraudsters In PH, Releases Okorocha
Operatives of the Port Harcourt Zonal Office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), says it has arrested five alleged suspected Internet fraudsters in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
The commission, in a statement signed by the Head, Media and Publicity, Wilson Uwajaren, in Port Harcourt, said the alleged suspects were arrested in an early morning operation, last Wednesday, April 14, 2021, along New Airport Road axis in Port Harcourt.
According to the statement, the agency named the alleged arrested suspects as Raymond Poi; Kelvin Okonofua; Anderson Aforke Adjukpa, Marvellous Ahre and Chijioke Amadi.
He added that the suspects were arrested based on verified intelligence information about their suspicious involvement in Internet-related fraud.
According to the statement, items recovered from the suspects include five iPhones; four Android phones; one Nokia Java phone; one Dell Laptop; two iMac Apple Laptop; and two ash- coloured Toyota Camry cars.
The statement, however, said the suspects would be charged to court as soon as investigations were concluded.
Meanwhile, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has released the former Governor of Imo State, Senator Rochas Okorocha, after he spent two nights in detention.
Okorocha was released, yesterday evening.
The Tide learnt that the former governor is presently at his Maitama residence in Abuja.
It would be recalled that the EFCC invited Okorocha, last Tuesday, for questioning.
Okorocha, who governed Imo between 2011 and 2019, has been accused of embezzlement and misappropriation of state funds by the Governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodinma.

RSG INAUGURATES ARMED FORCES REMEMBRANCE DAY COMMITTEE
The Rivers State Government has inaugurated a Central Planning Committee to organize the celebration of the 2026 Armed Forces Remembrance Day (AFRD) in the State.
The committee was formally inaugurated by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Benibo Anabraba in Port Harcourt, last Thursday.
Dr Anabraba who also serves as Chairman of the Committee
highlighted the State Government’s deep appreciation for the sacrifices of Nigeria’s fallen heroes who laid down their lives for the nation’s peace and unity.
“These heroes have given their lives for the security and peace of our nation and deserve to be celebrated. The Armed Forces Remembrance Day is an opportunity to show our gratitude for their sacrifice,” he said.
Dr. Anabraba further extended recognition to all Security Agencies in the State, emphasizing the importance of the event in appreciating their contributions to national security and sovereignty.
The annual Armed Forces Remembrance Day, observed on January 15 across the country is dedicated to remember Nigeria’s departed soldiers and honouring the nation’s veterans.
