Vigilante Group Debunks Attack Allegation
The Chairman of Diobu Security Services, Prince Amatari has debunked allegation that the group attacked residents of Railway in D/line Diobu.
He explained that Diobu Vigilante operations in D/line was well defined and that the claims of alleged leaders of criminal gang who went on air that Diobu Vigilante gave machetes injuries on residents and carted away their valuables was diversionary and misleading.
According to Amatari, the operation was targeted at a gang renowned for criminal activities ranging from armed robbery, burglary, kidnapping, unlawful possession of firearms, cutting of gold necklaces, snatching of phones and handbags, selling of all kinds of drugs such as cocaine, Indian hemps, etc.
He said: The three days operations of Diobu Vigilante in railway area was celebrated and encouraged by genuine residents of the area who have suffered in the hands of the gang.
“Even as we speak genuine residents of railway have visited Diobu Vigilante office begging for the continuous presence of Diobu Vigilante in railway which they said will go a long way in making them sleep with their two eyes closed”.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of Rivers State Police Community Relations Committee, Casca Ogosu says the 366 Special Constabulary recently recruited by the state police command are not enough to tackle the issues of security in the state.
He called on other security architectures in the state, especially the Vigilante to continue to give their support to the police to tackle the security needs.
The security expert also said that the 366 special constabulary recruited in the state recently are not expected to bear arms or carry weapons.
