Cleric Tasks Parents On Children’s Moral Upbringing
Pastor Frank Oni of Christ Life Church, Ilorin, yesterday lamented poor standards of children upbringing in Nigerian homes.
“Most parents are not giving their children moral ethics of life; how to respect elders; how to dress decently; imbibe good manners; and benefits of honesty and hard work,’’ he told The Tide in an interview.
“As a parent, you should correct your kids when they say dirty things or use foul language in your presence.
“When they disobey any rules and violate orders, learn to caution them and stop protecting them all in the name they are still kids.
“There is no kid anywhere, whatever they do now will become norms to them since nobody is yelling at them’’, Oni said.
The cleric also advised parents to live by example and stop behaving waywardly in the presence of their children.
“Stop saying bad things in their presence. They are looking at you and learning whatever you do. Stop insulting people or fighting neighbours while they are around,’’ he advised.
