Govt’ll Help Businesses Thrive, Banigo Reaffirms

The Rivers State Deputy Governor, Dr. Ipalibo Harry Banigo says the Governor Nyesom Wike-led administration would continue to create a favourable climate for businesses to thrive in the state.
Banigo stated this during a programme organized to celebrate Nigeria at 60 by the International Breweries PLC in Oginigba, Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of the state, last Friday.
The deputy governor said that, out of the eight seaports in Nigeria, two were cited in Port Harcourt, noted that the city was the hub of the hydrocarbon industry in Nigeria.
“There are lots of potentials for your plant to grow and to employ more workers and to be able to sell your products not only in Nigeria but across the globe, we look forward to a situation where our agricultural produce can also give you some of the natural materials you can use”, Banigo stressed.
Banigo said despite all the challenges plaguing the nation, Nigerians should be proud of their country, noting that the country’s is the most populous African country with a population of 195.9 million people according to the 2018 World Bank and United Nations estimate.
According to her, one in every four African is a Nigerian, stressing that the country’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) was expected to reach $250billion by the end of 2020, which makes Nigeria truly the giant of Africa.
In his welcome remarks, the Plant Manager, the International Breweries PLC, Akintayo Oguntunde, said as a business that brings people together for a better worth, the company decided to set aside a day to celebrate the nation’s Diamond Jubilee Independence Anniversary, noting that it was part of the company’s corporate social responsibility (CSR).
Also speaking, the Manager, Corporate Affairs, IBP, Mrs. Marian Reginald, thanked the Rivers State Government for its support over the years, noting that PABOD, renamed IBP, was the brain-child of the Rivers State Government.
