21 Students Bag Monarch’s Scholarship

About 21 students of the Federal College of Education Technical (FECT), Omoku have been awarded scholarship by the Eze Egi of Ogbaland, Professor Anele Ozondu Wokoma.
Speaking during the presentation of the scholarship at his palace at Erema, Eze Wokoma said the award which was an annual event was to help indigent students from both Ogba / Egbema /Ndoni and the rest of Nigeria to acquire the needed education.
The monarch described education as the most important investment, saying that no student should be allowed to leave school on account of school fees.
He said most beneficiaries of the scheme had come from poor homes and stressed the need for the beneficiaries to take their studies seriously.
Eze Wokoma also called on the Federal Government to site a clinic in the institution and upgrade it to a full fledge university.
Also speaking, the Provost of the institution, Dr. Emmanuel Ikenyiri said the college has the needed facilities to function as a university.
He thanked Eze Egi for the gesture, adding that it will go a long way to boost education in the area.
The provost stressed the need for public spirited individuals to emulate Eze Egi by giving scholarships to deserving students from their areas.
In their responses, two of the beneficiaries, Miss Adiele Success and Onyije Victory said the scholarship was one of its kind in the college, adding that the development has lifted a big burden off the neck of the students.
