Wike A Good Product, Nsirim Insists
The Permanent Secretary, Rivers State Ministry of Information and Communications, Pastor Paulinus Nsirim, says the state Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike, is a good product that is marketable anytime and anywhere in the country.
Nsirim, who said this at a meeting with information officers of the ministry, noted that the qualities of the governor have been attested to by high-profile figures across the country.
He also described the “Operation Sting” security network recently launched by the governor as a pragmatic effort by a visionary leader to ensure that Rivers people sleep with their two eyes closed.
While stressing that the security network of the state is now linked to a control centre, he added that Wike was the only governor in the country that has done so much in terms of support to the security agencies.
He also stressed the need for ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs) to come up with ideas that would change the negative perception of the state despite the huge achievements of the present administration.
Nsirim also said that the ministry was determined to change the negative narrative about the state.
He said that the ministry has set up a Facebook Page to communicate government policies and programmes on the Social Media to a wider spectrum of people, and urged the information officers to contribute articles on government policies and programmes to be posted on the platform.
According to him, they must see themselves as good ambassadors of the state while being regular at government functions and programmes with a view to acquainting themselves with the necessary tools for information dissemination.
In his word, “Time has come for information officers to make themselves relevant”, saying that they must re-engineer the process to make the ministry a household name in the state and country.
