Rivers NUJ Holds World Press Freedom Day, Today
The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Rivers State Council, with the support of the Journalism Educators Foundation (JEF), is organising a one-day workshop today, to commemorate this year’s World Press Freedom Day in Rivers State.
The workshop titled: “Media, Democracy and Elections in Times of Disinformation” is slated for today, May 3, 2019, by 10:00am, at the NUJ Press Centre, Moscow Road, Port Harcourt.
The event, according to a statement signed by the Secretary of the NUJ, Rivers State Council, Ike Wigodo, will feature academics, members of Civil Society Organisations, media executives and legal practitioners, under the chairmanship of the former Deputy National President of the NUJ and the General Manager of the Rivers State Newspaper Corporation (RSNC), Elder Vincent Ake.
The statement further said that two guest lecturers from the University of Port Harcourt, Dr Chris Ochonogor and Dr Faustinus Nwachukwu will speak on different topics at the event.
The statement enjoined journalists in the State to take advantage of the workshop to enrich their knowledge on the practice of journalism.
