WCM Celebrates Wike’s Re-Election …Commissions Borehole Project
The Wike Continuity Movement (WCM), on Wednesday took the celebration of the victory of the Rivers State Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike, at the March 9, 2019 governorship election to a sublime height, as it popped bottles of champagne, toasted to the glory of God and rolled out the drums, amid pomp and pageantry.
This is even as the group commissioned a borehole project and dedicated it to the victory of the governor.
The borehole project, tucked within the inner recesses of the busy Building Materials Market along Sam Woko Street, Mile 3, Diobu, Port Harcourt, was single-handedly built by the State Chairman of WCM, Chief Uchenna Okokoba for the benefit of all traders doing business within that axis of Port Harcourt.
While commissioning the project, the Patron of Nzuko Ndigbo in Rivers State, Chief (Dr) Clement Ofoma, said it would serve the traders and galvanise them to continue to support the good works of Governor Wike.
Former Chairman of Sam Woko Shops Traders Association, Hon. Nnaemeka Malobi said the project has ended the lack of potable drinking water in the market, and thanked Chief Okokoba for the gesture.
On his part, President General of Rivers Traders Association, Comrade Victor Bekwele said Chief Okokoba had challenged both government and the traders by single-handedly sponsoring the water project, and assured that Governor Wike would reciprocate the support of WCM members to his administration in due course.
Bekwele promised to sink two additional borehole to alleviate the suffering of traders in the area, contending that the commissioning of the project was historic.
He lauded Governor Wike for the numerous achievements of his administration, particularly the reconstruction of the burnt Fruit Garden Market and the Mile One Market which are in advanced stages of completion.
The National Women Leader of WCM, Hon. (Mrs) Adekunle Algoba thanked Okokoba for the water project, and described him as a man after Governor Wike’s heart.
Mrs Adekunle, particularly commended WCM women for voting for the Governor and for defending their votes, saying, “the women came out on the 10th of March, 2019 and confronted the soldiers. They said we must defend our future”.
The Chairman of Finished Building Materials Dealers Association, Nze Chikason Okenwa said, the water project would go a long way to serve the traders in the market but solicited for financial support to enable them acquire a 60KVA sound proof generator to power the borehole, and reaffirmed the traders’ support to the Wike administration.
In his address, the Rivers State Chairman of WCM and Patron of Building Materials Dealers Association, Chief Uchenna Okokoba said the borehole project was a fulfilment of a promise he made to the traders to reciprocate their support for Governor Wike.
While urging them to continue to support the Wike administration, Okokoba assured that they would benefit from more government projects in no distant time.
He, however, appealed to Governor Wike to restore the Neighbourhood Watch security outfit to promote and boost security across the state, particularly now that the elections were over.
The spokesman of WCM, Mazi Felix Onwunma described Okokoba as a philanthropist who had through the bohrehole project shown a good example of thinking what he could do for the society instead of what the society could do for him.
