Navy Declares Four Sailors Wanted Over Oil Theft
The Nigerian Navy has declared four sailors wanted in connection with illegal oil deal.
The command gave the identities of the wanted sailors as Enikanologbon Happy, Arumona Daniel, Egbujie Kingsley Chinonso and Ogori Kenneth
Spokesman of the command, Commodore Suleman Dahun said in a statement made available to The Tide that the four sailors were the crew members of merchant vessel named Grace Waters.
Dahun said the crew and the vessel were ,arrested in 2018 with 90 metric tonnes of illegally sourced petroleum products.
“Anyone who has information about the whereabouts of the wanted persons to contact the Naval Provost Marshal, Naval Headquarters, Area 7, Garki or the nearest naval establishment, Army, Air Force or Police unit.
Similarly, the Nigerian Army has destroyed an illegal camp operated by oil thieves in Delta State.
The Army in a statement said the command destroyed over 60 Cotonou boats, 150 storage tanks, 700 drums used by the criminals in stealing crude oil during illicit transactions.
Commander Sector 1, Operation Delta Safe in Warri, Delta State, Colonel Baba Manu who led the operations said, two swamp boggy machines were used in smashing the illegal camp used by the criminals.
Col. Manu said the illegal camp covered a total of 20 kilometers, located between Ogeyugbe to Otuyerem in Ugheli North of Delta state.
He said the vandals who specialised in vandalising the oil facilities around OML34, fled to the tin air on sighting the soldiers driving to the camp.
The statement also quoted the community leaders as calling on the soldiers to always keep vigil in the area fearing that as the hoodlums may resurface as soon as the soldiers leave the communities
The statement added that items recovered from the oil thieves include pumping machines and hose used in vandalising crude from the pipelines.
