Peace: 2019 Election Will Determine A’Ibom’s Fate -Emmanuel
Governor Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom State has declared that the 2019 general elections would determine whether the state would maintain its status as one of the most peaceful states in Nigeria or not.
He said the first quarter would specifically determine whether the people would return to the scary era of politically motivated killings, kidnappings and violence, or remain a Christ-centric state.
Emmanuel, who noted that God has so far used him to accomplish so much for the state in the last three and half years, assured that he would not sacrifice the collective interest of his people for selfish gains.
He made this call during the 2019 State Solemn Assembly to usher in the New Year held at Ibom Hall ground Uyo, the state capital, last Wednesday
Emmanuel, at the Solemn Assembly with the theme; ‘You are God, You Alone’ drawn from [2 Kings 19:19], reminded the people of the state that in 2015, he promised them industrialisation, stressing that he has done that by establishing 15 viable industries.
He said the importance of the Solemn Assembly, which is organised every January 2 to give thanks to God for His love during the preceding year and to turn over the affairs of the State in the New Year, could not be overemphasised because God, he said, had not disappointed his administration.
