RSG Plans New Employment Policy
The Rivers State Government has instituted a new employment policy with the inauguration of a 11-member committee made up of stakeholders and experts both in the public and private sectors.
Inaugurating the committee yesterday at the conference hall of the State Ministry of Employment Generation and Economic Empowerment, the Commissioner, Dr. Leloonu Nwibubasa said they are to drive the new job policy of the Chief Nyesom Wike-led administration.
Part of the mandate given to the committee is to come up with a quarterly set of objectives that will enhance the employment policy of government.
Moreover, Dr. Nwibubasa tasked the Committee to liaise with other stakeholders, and to broaden the scope of service delivery so as to engage the public.
He reiterated the desire of the Wike led government to reducing unemployment in the state.
In the words of the Commissioner, “employment creation has a divine mandate because when God created man, he gave him responsibility to tend the Garden of Eden”.
Challenging the Committee to formulate practicable policies he pointed that, it’s a build up to the first employment roundable held last week, stressing that the quarterly meeting would now be part of the strategy towards assessing and aligning plans to curb unemployment.
Nwibubasa therefore admonished the Committee members to take their jobs seriously, reminding them that they were chosen based on experience and passion.
Responding on behalf of the committee, Chief Nabil Saleh, who is also State President of Port Harcourt Chamber of Commerce, Industry Mines and Agriculture (PHACIMA) assured that they would live up to expectation.
Chief Saleh emphasised the desire of the private sector to support government in tackling the menace of unemployment.
Members of the Committee include, Mr. Monday, Yiimonah as Secretary, Mr. Emmanuel Dorgbaa, Executive Secretary of Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN), Mr. Akilo Ayokoride of National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools (NAPPS), Mrs Mercy Abu, Managing Director of EPI.
Others are Mr. Chamberlain Oguzu, Napoleon Akpe, Prof. Alafuro Epelle, Mr. Paul Adima, Zonal Head of South-South, NECA and Kennedy Dike Group Human Resource Manager of Notore Plc.
