Police Arrest Man For Raping Nine-Yr-Old To Death
The Police have arrested one Eedee Tombari who allegedly raped a nine- year-old girl and daughter of a Pastor to death in Bori, Khana Local Government Area of Rivers State.
Father of the victim and General Overseer of ‘Last Hope of God Church, Peter Gonis said the incident occurred after his wife had left his late daughter alongside other children in a church compound for evangelism.
Gonis further told The Tide said that his late daughter identified as Eedeebari Gonis was then abducted, raped and killed by Tombari, 23 who stays in the church compound.
It was gathered that a search party looked everywhere but the girl was nowhere to be found, even as the suspect tried to hide his atrocity by joining in the search.
He said, “She (his wife) left the two children and other children in the church and went to Bori market to preach.
“They were out for evangelism. People live in the church premises and this boy (the culprit) stay in this compound and nobody suspected him after we searched for her throughout the day.
“Even the boy was among those searching for her while he had already done what he did. It was later we got information and he was arrested,” Pastor Gonis explained.
He said it was the traces of blood that led people to where the suspect dumped his daughter’s remains, even as he called on Nigerians to come to his aid and ensure that justice prevails in the matter.
A police source said the suspect was first arrested by detectives of the Bori Area Command following a tip off before the matter was transferred to the State Criminal and Investigation Department SCID) in Port Harcourt.
Meanwhile, Chairperson, International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA) in Rivers State, Anthonia Osademe has promised that the association would ensure that the decease get justice.

RSG INAUGURATES ARMED FORCES REMEMBRANCE DAY COMMITTEE
The Rivers State Government has inaugurated a Central Planning Committee to organize the celebration of the 2026 Armed Forces Remembrance Day (AFRD) in the State.
The committee was formally inaugurated by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Benibo Anabraba in Port Harcourt, last Thursday.
Dr Anabraba who also serves as Chairman of the Committee
highlighted the State Government’s deep appreciation for the sacrifices of Nigeria’s fallen heroes who laid down their lives for the nation’s peace and unity.
“These heroes have given their lives for the security and peace of our nation and deserve to be celebrated. The Armed Forces Remembrance Day is an opportunity to show our gratitude for their sacrifice,” he said.
Dr. Anabraba further extended recognition to all Security Agencies in the State, emphasizing the importance of the event in appreciating their contributions to national security and sovereignty.
The annual Armed Forces Remembrance Day, observed on January 15 across the country is dedicated to remember Nigeria’s departed soldiers and honouring the nation’s veterans.
