I Have Forgiven Those Who Plotted To Impeach Me – Ortom
Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State says, as a Christian, he has forgiven those who plotted to illegally impeach him as Governor of the state few months ago.
Ortom spoke yesterday at St. Mary’s Catholic Parish, North Bank, Makurdi during a thanksgiving service in his honour and the Majority Leader of the Benue State House of Assembly, Mr. Avine Agbom.
The Governor stated that “though I have forgiven the persons behind the failed impeachment move, those who were part of the plot have the moral duty to publicly cleanse the smear.
“I know one thing, God always prepares a banquet for me in the midst of my enemies, He also anoints me to come out unhurt. It’s God’s mercy and goodness that sustains me.”
While acknowledging the support of the Church, Mr. Avine Agbom and the entire Benue people to the sustenance of peace in the state, the Governor said “my resolve and determination to continue to save the lives and property of our people remains unwavering despite threats to my live.”
He directed the state Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Dennis Ityavyar to construct a block of classrooms at St. Mary’s Secondary School North Bank as part of his intervention in the school.
On his part, Avine Agbom who expressed appreciation to the parishioners for their show of love for him and Governor Ortom, said he decided not to seek reelection into the State Assembly so as to pave the way for younger persons to be given the opportunity to also serve.
In a sermon, Rev. Fr. Moses Iorapuu urged Christians to avoid anything that would deny them the benefits of the book of life, even as he advised them against fear which, according to him, had hindered the progress of many.
