Why APC Direct Primaries Will Fail In Kaduna – Sani
A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Kaduna State, Muhammad Sani, has advised the party’s national chairman, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, and the APC National Working Committee to revert the adoption of direct party primaries to avoid devastating effects for the party.
In a statement entitled, ‘distraction of primaries in our party’, and made available to newsmen in Kaduna, he said, “I call on the National Chairman and also the National Working Committee of the party to revert the proclamation of direct party primaries for the conduct of the election without delay to avoid devastating effects for the party.”
While admitting that it remains the best option, he submitted that the direct mode of primaries is not feasible for now, arguing that although the method is more democratic, it is not realistic for now in Kaduna State.
“Direct primary is more democratic but in the circumstance that we have found ourselves right now, the APC has no updated register.
“Voters card is different from party membership card. The membership register has not been well updated”.
“No fewer than almost all party aspirants on the platform of the All Progressives Congress ( APC ) and members of the party here in Kaduna have rejected direct primary election for the sake of peace and party’s continuity here in Kaduna,” he said.
