2019: Mark Is A Capable Hand, Abdulsalami Affirms
Ahead of the 2019 presidential election, former Head of State, General Abdulsalami Abubakar has said that Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Presidential aspirant, Senator David Mark was one of the capable hands needed to lead the nation out of the woods.
Abdulsalami made this remark when he played host to Senator Mark’s Campaign Team in his Abuja residence, disclosing that the latter has over the years demonstrated unwavering commitment and service to his fatherland.
A statement signed by Media Assistant to Senator David Mark, Paul Mumeh, yesterday, quoted Abdulsalami as saying that, “Both as a military officer and politician, Senator Mark has proved to be a reliable and competent administrator. The nation would benefit from his wealth of experience, if given the mandate to be President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” the former Head of State said.
He added that Senator Mark where ever he served, left a legacy of meritorious services saying “David always make his mark”.
Abdulsalami said he was pleased to note that the PDP is putting its house in order and playing the role of opposition party hoping that the 2019 elections would be free, fair and credible.
He counselled political parties, aspirants and supporters to play the game according to the rules, adding that only the wishes of the people should endure.
Earlier, the PDP Presidential hopeful, Senator David Mark, had told his host that he was prepared for the contest believing that his track records of meritorious services to the nation puts him in a better stead to lead the nation.
The Director General of David Mark Campaign Organization, Senator Zainab Kure and Senator Suleiman Adokwe extolled the virtue of Mark which was needed to navigate through the murky socio-economic and political challenges.
The meeting later went into a closed door that lasted for about two hours.

RSG INAUGURATES ARMED FORCES REMEMBRANCE DAY COMMITTEE
The Rivers State Government has inaugurated a Central Planning Committee to organize the celebration of the 2026 Armed Forces Remembrance Day (AFRD) in the State.
The committee was formally inaugurated by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Benibo Anabraba in Port Harcourt, last Thursday.
Dr Anabraba who also serves as Chairman of the Committee
highlighted the State Government’s deep appreciation for the sacrifices of Nigeria’s fallen heroes who laid down their lives for the nation’s peace and unity.
“These heroes have given their lives for the security and peace of our nation and deserve to be celebrated. The Armed Forces Remembrance Day is an opportunity to show our gratitude for their sacrifice,” he said.
Dr. Anabraba further extended recognition to all Security Agencies in the State, emphasizing the importance of the event in appreciating their contributions to national security and sovereignty.
The annual Armed Forces Remembrance Day, observed on January 15 across the country is dedicated to remember Nigeria’s departed soldiers and honouring the nation’s veterans.
