SDP Blasts Okorocha, Accuses Him Of Looting Imo LG Funds
The Social Democratic Party (SDP), has lambasted Imo State Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha-led administration over his alleged abysmal failure and deliberate policy of foisting hardship on the people of the state.
The party declared that it had found Okorocha wanting for allegedly mismanaging and looting of local government council allocations for seven years.
This was contained in a statement signed by the Publicity Secretary of SDP in Imo, Godsent Chillos and made available to newsmen, Wednesday evening.
The statement quoted SDP as accusing Okorocha of deliberate conversion of public lands to personal use.
The statement reads, “Noting the abysmal and colossal failure of the APC government in Imo State and its deliberate policy of imposition of poverty and hardship on the toiling masses, the Social Democratic Party (SDP) Imo state, therefore, has resolved to take the bull by the horn to lead the people of Imo out of the APC captivity come 2019.
“The Social Democratic Party (SDP) Imo State, therefore, has found the APC-led government of Imo State wanting on the followings: Reckless mismanagement and looting of local government council allocations for seven years.
“Illegal and reckless demolition of public markets and the people’s property without adequate compensation or adherence to due process and respect to rule of law.
“Conversion of public lands to personal uses: for example Orji Mechanic and Nekede Mechanic villages, Eke Ukwu market site, Owerrri New market site, IBC quarters at Orji, Area H along Port Harcourt road.

RSG INAUGURATES ARMED FORCES REMEMBRANCE DAY COMMITTEE
The Rivers State Government has inaugurated a Central Planning Committee to organize the celebration of the 2026 Armed Forces Remembrance Day (AFRD) in the State.
The committee was formally inaugurated by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Benibo Anabraba in Port Harcourt, last Thursday.
Dr Anabraba who also serves as Chairman of the Committee
highlighted the State Government’s deep appreciation for the sacrifices of Nigeria’s fallen heroes who laid down their lives for the nation’s peace and unity.
“These heroes have given their lives for the security and peace of our nation and deserve to be celebrated. The Armed Forces Remembrance Day is an opportunity to show our gratitude for their sacrifice,” he said.
Dr. Anabraba further extended recognition to all Security Agencies in the State, emphasizing the importance of the event in appreciating their contributions to national security and sovereignty.
The annual Armed Forces Remembrance Day, observed on January 15 across the country is dedicated to remember Nigeria’s departed soldiers and honouring the nation’s veterans.
