Ijaws Endorse Okowa For Second Term
The Ijaws in Delta State have endorsed Senator Dr Ifeanyi Okowa for second term as Governor of Delta State saying that the governor has done a lot for the Ijaw nation.
Delta Ijaw Political Assembly (DIPA) led by its National President, Chief Julius Government also observed that Governor Okowa was passionate about the development of Ijaw land with an unprecedented record of providing infrastructure in Ijaw land.
The group made the endorsement yesterday in Asaba during a courtesy call on the governor.
According to him, “we formed this body to assist in seeing that you are returned for second term, we are solidly behind you, we will do everything within our powers to ensure your victory in 2019.”
“We will partner with you to sustain the peace and security in Ijaw land, you have done a lot for our people, provided roads and other infrastructure, you have given a lot of appointments to Ijaw sons and daughters,” Chief Government said, adding, “as a group, we have come to pledge loyalty, partnership and we say congratulations. Be rest assured that we will do whatever that will make you succeed in the 2019 elections.”

RSG INAUGURATES ARMED FORCES REMEMBRANCE DAY COMMITTEE
The Rivers State Government has inaugurated a Central Planning Committee to organize the celebration of the 2026 Armed Forces Remembrance Day (AFRD) in the State.
The committee was formally inaugurated by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Benibo Anabraba in Port Harcourt, last Thursday.
Dr Anabraba who also serves as Chairman of the Committee
highlighted the State Government’s deep appreciation for the sacrifices of Nigeria’s fallen heroes who laid down their lives for the nation’s peace and unity.
“These heroes have given their lives for the security and peace of our nation and deserve to be celebrated. The Armed Forces Remembrance Day is an opportunity to show our gratitude for their sacrifice,” he said.
Dr. Anabraba further extended recognition to all Security Agencies in the State, emphasizing the importance of the event in appreciating their contributions to national security and sovereignty.
The annual Armed Forces Remembrance Day, observed on January 15 across the country is dedicated to remember Nigeria’s departed soldiers and honouring the nation’s veterans.
