Police Arrest Sex Worker For Baby Theft
The Delta State Police Command has arrested a 32-year-old commercial sex worker identified as Regina Moses for allegedly stealing a 3-year-old baby in Asaba, Delta State.
The baby, Kosonye Mordi, a pupil was allegedly stolen under the nose of the parents.
But luck, however, ran out of the suspect when the police detectives acting on a tip-off swooped on her and arrested her in her attempt to escape with the baby.
The police commissioner in the state, Mr. Muhammad Mustafa who confirmed the arrest of the suspect to newsmen, said “the suspect made useful statement to the police and we are keeping her in the cell for further investigation”.
For many hours, the parents of little Kosonye Mordi, a pupil in one of the private Primary Schools in Asaba were thrown into confusion and frantic search for their daughter who was kidnapped in their street, Thomas Ogazi Street, Airport View Area of Asaba, Delta State.
It was gathered that little Kosonye was riding on her bicycle, an exercise she likes embarking on after closing from school, when a lady, later disappeared with her while the mother was busy discussing with her neighbours.
The mother of Kosonye, Mrs. Theresa Mordi said: “I did not know when my daughter was taken away, she just took the baby away, thank God, she was caught”.
It was gathered that a search party was conducted after the suspect had stylishly disappeared along the Asaba/Benin Expressway. She was caught while waiting for a taxi to convey her out of the area.
Speaking to newsmen at the State Police Headquarters, the suspect said: “I only do sales as ‘pass time business’, I have only sold two kids, I sold one for N200, 000 in Onitsha, while the other one at Obosi for N300, 000, I am a commercial sex worker in Asaba, I use the sale of babies to enrich myself, police should please forgive me”.

RSG INAUGURATES ARMED FORCES REMEMBRANCE DAY COMMITTEE
The Rivers State Government has inaugurated a Central Planning Committee to organize the celebration of the 2026 Armed Forces Remembrance Day (AFRD) in the State.
The committee was formally inaugurated by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Benibo Anabraba in Port Harcourt, last Thursday.
Dr Anabraba who also serves as Chairman of the Committee
highlighted the State Government’s deep appreciation for the sacrifices of Nigeria’s fallen heroes who laid down their lives for the nation’s peace and unity.
“These heroes have given their lives for the security and peace of our nation and deserve to be celebrated. The Armed Forces Remembrance Day is an opportunity to show our gratitude for their sacrifice,” he said.
Dr. Anabraba further extended recognition to all Security Agencies in the State, emphasizing the importance of the event in appreciating their contributions to national security and sovereignty.
The annual Armed Forces Remembrance Day, observed on January 15 across the country is dedicated to remember Nigeria’s departed soldiers and honouring the nation’s veterans.
