Police Arrest Five Cultists In C’River
Cross River State Police Command has arrested five notorious cultists in Calabar, Cross River State capital.
The suspects were holding nocturnal meeting on Saturday April 21, at the Aka Efa Town Hall in Calabar when the Police rounded them up
Investigations conducted by our correspondent revealed that the suspects were members of Klans confraternity.
When contacted, the Commissioner of Police, CP Mohammed Inuwa Hafiz confirmed the arrest saying that their arrest has averted blood bath in Calabar.
“We have arrested five Klans men while holding nocturnal meeting in Calabar, Cross River State capital.
“The State Housing Police Division arrested the suspects amongst them top government officials and personal assistant to one of the Commissioners in the state.
The suspects were picked on Saturday while the meeting was about to take place.
The Commissioner said the meeting was in preparatory to unleashed terror in town. “The meeting was a reprisal to the killings in Calabar by the rival cults group” the CP stated.
He said, “This was made possible from information given by members of the public. The suspects had had hands in many cultist operations in Calabar.
“We have been closing on them; amongst the arrested suspects was a personal assistant to one of the Commissioners in the state,” he said.
He called on members of the public to continue to volunteer information to the Police particularly when they notice unnecessary movement in their areas.
“Don’t wait until it happened, inform us on time, don’t wait until when there is a clash, before you alert us to enable us nip it in the
bud.”
