Commissioner Urges Edo Communities To Embrace Peace
The Commissioner for Solid Minerals, Oil and Gas in Edo State, Mr Joseph Ugheoke, last Friday urged oil producing communities in the state, to allow peace to reign in order to attract investors.
Ugheoke made the appeal at a stakeholders meeting with representatives of oil companies in Benin.
He said that, there was need for a healthy relationship between oil companies and host communities, adding that government was determined to create an enabling environment for businesses to flourish.
The commissioner also appealed to oil companies operating in the state to ensure they discharge their corporate social responsibilities.
He said that, in line with government’s policy to make Edo a business hub, there was the need for robust relationship between host communities and oil companies.
Speaking on behalf of the oil companies, Mr Lucky Obiewebi, said the organisations would support the administration in the state to achieve its set goals.
