Obuah Lauds Wike For Honouring Rivers Women
The Chairman, Rivers State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Bro Felix Obuah has applauded Governor Nyesom Wike for setting aside a day to honour women of the state as the Golden Jubilee celebration of Rivers State reaches its climax.
Obuah described the Women’s Day celebration which held at the Obi Wali International Conference Center last Thursday, as significant and highly enriching.
In the statement, Obuah commended Governor Wike for reawakening the consciousness of Rivers women and giving them hope of a better tomorrow.
The PDP chairman expressed joy that the governor has once again displayed capacity and friendly attitude to womanhood.
He recalled that Wike had made history as the first to appoint a female as deputy governor even as he also appointed women into some key positions in his administration.
He said the celebration was an eye opener, as Rivers women were liberated from the skewed mindset of inability to attain heights reached by their male counterparts.
“The governor deserves kudos for encouraging Rivers women to aspire to any elective office.
This is a rare show of magnanimity that has gone a long way to boosting the confidence of women in politics,” Obuah said.
Obuah noted that it was on that premise that the PDP remains eternally grateful to the governor for the singular honour.
The PDP chairman urged Rivers women to reciprocate the gesture by giving their unalloyed support to the policies and programmes of the state government.
He also called on the women not to relent in their support and prayers for the governor, who was doing everything within his powers to make life more meaningful to Rivers people.
