Okowa Urges Militants To Embrace Peace

nor, Ifeanyi Okowa, has again appealed to Niger Delta militants to give peace a chance and conform to instrument of peace as being propelled by the Pan -Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF) with the Federal Government.
The governor had consistently lamented that the sustained attacks on oil and gas installations had reduced the state’s revenue allocation coming from the Federal Government.
Okowa who spoke Saturday at the Cenotaph in Asaba, the state capital, during an empowerment scheme of the Senator representing Delta North, Chief Peter Nwaoboshi, noted that part of the fund he planned to deliver on infrastructure had been drastically cut short by the activities of the militants.
He stated that unless the militants embrace peace and end destruction of oil installations, development of the state is in danger.
According to him, our youths that are not conforming, that go about destroying pipelines, this is the time to change for the better so that our resources can shore up.
“We need money to deliver on projects we have started.
So, we beg you, we need peace”
The governor commended law-abiding youths in the state for keying into his SMART agenda of wealth and job creation and urged them to sustain their peaceful dispositioin.
Okowa promised the youths that in 2017 the SMART initiative would climax the dividends of his prosperity mantra.
He also lauded Senator Peter Nwaoboshi for his empowerment programme and urged other stakeholders to emulate the lawmaker by rolling out more of such initiatives in view of the positive imparts they would make on the state.
