Diocesan Women’s Guild Honours Banigo, Others
The Deputy Governor of Rivers State, Dr Ipalibo Harry Banigo was among the 46 eminent personalities who were honoured with award of excellence by the Diocesan Women’s Guild of the Niger Delta Diocese, Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion.
In the citation for the award read by the Diocesan Communicator, Dame Lizzy Wilfred Fombo, the Diocesan Women’s Guild said, Banigo was honoured for her various services to God and humanity as a public servant, philanthropist and devout Christian.
Speaking while receiving the award, Banigo expressed gratitude to the Diocesan Women’s Guild for the honour done her, and promised that the award would spur her into rendering more humanitarian services.
She called on the Diocesan Women’s Guild as mothers, to be a source of inspiration and role model both in their families, church and society at large.
The deputy governor advised women to spend quality time with their children and monitor their activities, in order to discourage them from being influenced negatively.
Banigo said the Chief Nyesom Wike-led administration was passionate about women empowerment through the state micro finance scheme to uplift their standard of living, stressing that government would continue to support the work of God for his goodness to the government and people of Rivers State.
The award was presented to Banigo on behalf of the Diocesan Women’s Guild by the President of the Mother’s Union/Women’s Guild and wife of the Diocesan Bishop, Mrs. Victoria Ebirien.
