Car Wash Operators Record Business Boom In PH
Car wash business
operators in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital, are now counting their gains following increased patronage by customers in recent time.
The operators, who barred their minds in a chat with our correspondent in Port Harcourt, recently said despite the economic recession in the country, they still have a good and impressive number of customers daily.
According to them, as Port Harcourt is fast regaining its lost glory of Garden City, following the good road network and improved sanitary condition, their customers were compelled to key into the system by driving clean cars always.
They said some customers like company drivers sometimes bring in their cars for washing on daily basis while some patronise them, mostly at weekends.
Alex Njofor, operator of a car wash outfit on Peter Odili Road, confirmed the business boom despite the numerous car wash operators in the area.
Njofor noted that in recent times, his workers hardly have time to rest, because of the influx of customers, and attributed it to the attitude of most car owners who loved cleanliness.
Another operator, Nathaniel Ogbovie at GRA said he had been in the business for some years, but the patronage in recent times had been very impressive, adding that it must have been because of the new consciousness on cleanliness, coupled with the good road network as everybody want to look good despite the harsh economy.
Also, Chief Odemela Ansa noted that since he ventured into the car wash business in 1998, he is witnessing a good patronage and simply said it is because cleanliness is next to Godliness, with so many people hearing the word of God.
Ansa disclosed that there are days some customers patronise them with over 20 vehicles, and that with the three-point washing bay, he was able to satisfy them.
On how much he charged to wash a car, he said it depends on the type of vehicle and type of washing, but opined that it had been moderate and affordable.
