Mob Sets Ablaze Suspected Robber In Warri
A robbery suspect has
been set ablaze by angry mob at Isoko quarters in Warri South Local Government Area of Delta.
The deceased, aged 21, was alleged to have been a member of a five-man robbery gang terrorising the area.
The suspect, who was identified simply as Ese, was said to be a bus conductor.
He was alleged to have snatched a commercial bus belonging to a police officer in Enerhen road in Warri.
The suspect, however, met his untimely death after he was sighted at a bus stop by angry mob.
According to eye witness, the irate mob hit him with hard objects before setting him ablaze.
Our correspondent reports that over five suspects had been killed in the last two months in Warri and its environs through jungle justice.
The Chairman, Vigilante group, Warri chapter, Mr Maurice Oliseh, condemned the act saying that jungle justice should be discouraged.
Oliseh said that robbery suspects should be handed over to the police for prosecution.
It would be recalled that state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP, Celestina Kalu had warned residents against taking laws into their hands.
Meanwhile, seven persons among the angry mob who lynched the suspect had been apprehended by the police.
