Igwuruta: Electricity Consumers Decry PHEDC’s Poor Services
The Port Harcourt Elec
tricity Distribution Company (PHEDC), may face hard times with its customers in Igwuruta, Ikwerre Local Government Area if its mode of operations is not upgraded.
Some PHEDC customers in the area who spoke with The Tide, yesterday, said the company was not serious about its services in the place.
One of them, Mrs Felicia Ahamba, regretted that the company could only distribute power for eight days and issue N8,000 bill for three apartments.
She said such was more than robbery and unjustifiable.
Ahamba, noted that with PHEDC as the sole power distributor, the state and its environs may not excel in the business world.
According to him, each time the area office in the place was contacted, they bombarded them with technical issues, saying, it was not their fault.
Also speaking, Igwe Charles, said that the power company was only interested in their profit making and not good service delivery.
Charles explained that until a rival company was introduced, to challenge the monopoly of the company, it may not do well.
He maintained that such approach was a clear indication of a company that was prepared not to live up to the expectation of the masses.
The businessman, wondered why the people should pay for the month they never used power, and called on the people to report the company to the relevant authorities should they insist on collecting bills on electricity not provided.
Others who corroborated the absence of power in June, said throughout the month, there was no light, adding that they were surprised to see bill for June being distributed.
When the PHEDC office was contacted, by our reporter, they said plans were on to ensure that things were put in place.
