Woji Gets Committee On Scholarship Awards
The Paramount Ruler of Woji
Community, Eze Emeka Ihunwo, has inaugurated a seven-member committee to select three indigenes to be awarded scholarship into any of the Nigerian institutions.
The paramount ruler who performed the inauguration in his palace, charged the committee to carry out the assignment without favouritism.
Eze Ihunwo also told them to see the call as a service to mankind, stressing that they should carry out the assignment diligently.
He noted that the aim of initiating the programme was to help develop their people, especially the young ones and help them realise their God-given potentials.
The traditional ruler also added that their duty was to go into the community and select three indigenes of the community that had gained admission into any government-owned tertiary institutions.
He said the community was desirous of giving qualitative education to its indigenes, noting that fees for the students would be fully paid.
He further advised the students to take their studies seriously and make the community proud.
According to him, without quality education poverty and crime would remain unabated.
“Recognising young people with this kind of award is one of the best ways to encourage and inspire youths who have made it, and those who are working hard to succeed’, he said.
In his response, the Chairman of the committee, Chief Tony Chukwu thanked the traditional ruler for finding them worthy to carry out the assignment.
He assured that the committee would be dedicated to the assignment with a view to working out strategies that would take cognisance of the best students in the community.
Other members of the committee are Mr Prince Graham Ezewu, and Mr Hanachor O. Hanachor, God’s Power N. Ihunwo, Mrs Gloria Ogbonna, Ikechi Worgu and Kingsley Worlu Chioma.
