RSG Responds To Need Of Students With Disabilities
Barely 24 hours after a student with disability at the Special School, Corpus Christi, Port Harcourt, requested for recreational facility for their use, the Rivers State Government, has promptly presented a giant flat television set and cash donation to the charity home.
The Special School is being managed by the Catholic Church for people living with disabilities.
The Deputy Governor of Rivers State, Dr. Ipalibo Banigo, said the gesture was in response to the request by one of the students during her visit to some charity homes in the state on behalf of Governor, Nyesom Wike, as part of activities marking the 100 days in office of the present administration.
Presenting the items on behalf of the state government, the Head of Protocol, Office of the Deputy Governor, Mr. E. Kpaniku, said the action was intended to give the school children a sense of belonging and improve their living condition.
According to him, the deputy governor was moved by compassion and immediately ordered her protocol aids to provide the items without delay.
Kpaniku assured the students and management of government’s continued support, and urged them not to be deterred by their challenges because God loves them equally.
He advised well-meaning individuals and Corporate Organizations to always consider the less privileged in the society so as to attract divine favour.
Responding, Ms Ndidi Aroh, who spoke on behalf of the Administrator of The Child Special School, described Governor Wike’s Administration as a caring Government that is sensitive to the yearnings of the less privileged in society. She prayed God to continue to protect and grant the governor and his deputy, the wisdom to pilot the affairs of the state.
It would recalled that items such as toiletries, food items, washing machine, gas cooker, beverages and toiletries were earlier presented by the state government to the management of the school.
