Muslim Women Call For Better Business Climate
The Federation of
Muslim Women’s Association in Nigeria (FOMWAN), has called on governments and private organisations to create an enabling environment for business women to benefit from entrepreneurship schemes.
“The women need these schemes to improve themselves and should be encouraged,” FOMWAN said in a communique on Monday, at the end of its 30th annual conference held in llorin.
The communique, which was signed by the National Amiral, Hajia Aminat Omoti and the National Secretary, Hajia Umaimat Mohmo, advocated empowerment of women, especially the widows
It called for entrenchment of an enabling environment for physical and psychological growth of children and youths.
The association also urged the government to respect the rights of Muslim women to dress in accordance with their religious tenets as provided for in Section 38 of the Nigeria Constitution
The communique called for transparency and accountability in all forms of leadership positions in Nigeria.
The association advocated that the concept of indigineship should be de-emphasised in all facets of life.
It urged Muslim women to actively pursue learning and be involved in issues of the community.
The association also recommended that parents and governments at all levels should respect the rights of youth and children by implementing the Child Rights Act, which is in consonance with the principles of Islamic Human Rights
