Jonathan’s Support Boosts My Morale
The Governor of Bayelsa State, Henry Seriake Dickson, says his support base is now stronger than it was following his endorsement by former President Goodluck Jonathan and other chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Governor Dickson, who gave a rundown of his achievements before an unprecedented crowd of People’s Democratic Party (PDP) faithful during the mother-of-all rallies at the Samson Siasia Sports Complex in Yenagoa, to declare his second term ambition said: “the PDP has all the three senators, five members of House of Representatives, 21 out of the 23 declared seats in the State House of Assembly, and local government chairmen in the state.
According to him, “who can the APC governorship candidates (aspirants) boast of in the state?
He noted that the PDP has already made history during the declaration in support for his re-election.
He pledged to consolidate on his achievements to actaulise a purposeful and sustainable development for the people of Bayelsa State which he described as “the Jerusalem of Ijaw Nation”, if re-elected on December 5.
Dickson enjoined the people of the state not to be deceived by the APC propaganda mechanism, which he said was deliberately orchestrated to derail his Restoration Agenda in the state.
Amidst ovation from the crowd, Dickson debunked all the claims by PDP stalwarts that defected to APC and urged them to give him their votes during the gubernatorial election.
Governor Dickson thanked former President Jonathan and his wife, Dame Patience Jonathan, former Governor DSP Alamieyeseigha, PDP governors, National Assembly members and PDP faithful for their endorsement of his second term ticket.
In his own remark, Jonathan said PDP is totally committed to support Governor Dickson to victory, because he is the only eligible candidate that cannot betray the political struggle of the Ijaw nation in the comity of nations.
He explained that he endorsed Governor Dickson for second-term to enable him consolidate on his achievements in Bayelsa State.
Chief Alamieyeseigha in his own remark, said PDP is synonymous with Ijaw nation, that APC is a party whose destination is unknown on the political landscape in Bayelsa State.
He advised those PDP stalwarts who defected to retrace their step and come back to their PDP family.

LP Crisis: Ex-NWC Member Dumps Dumps Abure Faction
Mr Ojukwu, who recently returned to the interim National Working Committee led by Senator Esther Nenadi Usman, noted that the party had 34 elected members in the House of Representatives, eight Senators, and 80 members at the state Houses of Assembly after the 2023 general elections.
“Now we lost all of them,” he said. “I don’t think we have as many as five members in the National Assembly.”
The former national officer of the LP talked to journalists in Abuja and said he chose to join the caretaker committee led by Senator Nenadi-Usman because they are now the officially recognized leaders of the Party.
“I chose to work with the caretaker committee to help save the Labour Party, for the benefit of the party. I also want to use this chance to ask my colleagues at the national, state, and local government levels to come together and help rebuild our party.
“Another election is around the corner. We lost everything we have. They have left to other political parties. So I’ll reach out to all my friends in the other group to get together and work on making this party stronger again.
“The caretaker committee has formed a reconciliation committee. Let’s come together and talk so that we can restore the first opposition political party in Nigeria.”
Mr Ojukwu, who was part of the Julius Abure’s group, said there are no more factions in the LP.
He added, “There is a court ruling, and since it is valid, the right people are in the correct positions.”
He urged Barr Abure and others to drop the legal cases they have filed because they are not helping the party.
“Litigations are killing political parties”, he said. “They’ve seen many political parties disappear because of legal battles, and the Labor Party is losing support every day, which makes me feel sad.”
Mr Ojukwu said he did not think joining the Senator Nenadi-Usman’s NWC was a betrayal of the Abure group, describing himself as “the oxygen” of that faction.
“I’m with this group because of the verdict. But I never betrayed anybody. Rather, I was betrayed,” he added.
