New Board Chairman Assures On 2015 Christian Pilgrimage
The Chairman, Rivers
State Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board, Barrister Biobele Odesole, has lauded the Governor of the State, Chief Nyesom Wike for his interest in the spiritual wellbeing of the people.
Biobele, who made the statement in Port Harcourt, in her first day in office, said the inauguration of the Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board, marked a unique milestone and a new beginning in the history of the board in Rivers State and thanked the governor for the initiative.
The chairman said Christians should always ensure that unity prevails in the body of Christ, love one another, see themselves as one body and shun things that will compromise their faith.
On pilgrimage to Israel, Biobele said it would be wrong for Christians to treat the exercise as tourism or social outing, adding that the essence is for spiritual growth, peace and development of the state, the nation at large and our individual lives.
According to the chairman, “there is no way a true Christian would travel to the Holy land without getting a boost to his or her faith in Christ,” and appealed to intending pilgrims to do a rethink.
On this year’s pilgrimage to the Holy land, the chairman assured that the governor would attend to the matter, pointing out that the number of pilgrims would not be as large as it used to be.
She, how:ver, stated that the board would facilitate individuals or corporate bodies interested in the holy pilgrimage.
