Delta Moves To Reactivate Water Schemes
Delta State Commis
sioner for Water Resources, Fedelis Tilije, has said that the state government will reactivate all non-functional water schemes in Asaba.
Tilije, who said this when he inspected the different water schemes in the state capital, expressed displeasure at the poor condition of the various water schemes in Asaba.
He said the water scheme at the Federal College would be provided with adequate power generating set to ensure provision of water to residents in the area.
The commissioner said that the bad pipes and tanks at the St. Patrick’s College would be changed and the vandalised cables repaired.
Tilije said that security measures would be taken by building protective wires around the cables to avoid vandalism of the water equipment and cables.
He stressed the need for maintenance culture to ensure that the water equipment work efficiently.
Our correspondent reports that the Central Head works water Scheme, Zappa Water scheme, Federal College Water Scheme, St. Patrick’s College Water Scheme and the Delta State Urban Water Scheme were in bad shape.
He gave assurance that the water treatment plant at the Central Head Works would be rehabilitated to treat water for safe consumption.
