Rotary Club To Partner Govt On Security
The Rotary International,
District 9140 has pledged its partnership with the government to improve the level of security in the country.
The Rotary International District 9140 Governor, Rotarian Ijeoma Pearl Okoro who made this known shortly after her installation in Port Harcourt, also said that the district is prepared to assist the government extend social amenities to the grassroot.
Rotarian Ijeoma Okoro, however, described her membership of the Rotary club as a divine providence, adding that under her leadership as district governor 9140, the club would grow from strength to strength in terms of membership.
She also stressed the need for members to be ready to support the district to deliver its promises, adding that time has come for members to take pride on what they do for humanity.
According to her, Rotarians must be ready to lead by examples by being proud of serving humanity.
In his valedictory speech, the outgone governor of the district, Rotarian Noble Eshemeten, said that the club had had giant strides within the last one year in polio eradication, provision of water and sanitation facilities across the 11 states in the district.
Rotarian Eshemeten was particularly happy with the contributions of the club in the area of peace in various communities across the district. While saying that the outgoing year witnessed increase in memberships of the club, he noted that about eight clubs were chartered and urged the new district governor to build upon the successes attained by ensuring that more clubs were established across the district.
Rotarian Eshemeten also charged the club members to give their full support to enable the new district administration to succeed.

Technology Key to Nigeria’s Socio-Economic Development, Says Computer Scientist
Dr. Legborsi Emmanuel, former state Chairman of the Nigeria Computer Society (NCS), has emphasized that technology is the sure way for Nigeria’s socio-economic development.
He made this assertion while speaking with newsmen at the sideline of 118th inaugural lecture series of Rivers State University (RSU) held in port Harcourt, wednesday.
He stressed that the lecture, which focused on emerging technology and its impact on the socio-economic development of the country, aligns with the NCS’s economic focus.
He highlighted the importance of building an economy driven by technology, citing the success of the Rivers State Smart Economy policy as an example.
The computer scientist emphasized the need for innovation and doing things differently, asserting that “technology is the only way out” for Nigeria’s development. He praised the lecturer, Professor Mathias Daniel, for exploring the applications of technology in various sectors, including agriculture, industry, transport, and socio-economics.
Dr. Emmanuel underscores the critical role technology plays in driving socio-economic growth and development in Nigeria by leveraging technology, the country can unlock new opportunities and address pressing challenges.
