NUJ Opens Bid For New Press Centre
The Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Rivers State Council, Mr. Omoni Ayo-Tamuno, says in line with the vision of the new executive to run an all-inclusive and transparent administration in the next three years, bidding for the management of the new Ernest Ikoli Press Centre will be declared open, tomorrow.
“The reason is that as journalists, we are not competent in managing such facility, hence we would require an expert to manage it”, he said.
According to the State NUJ boss, beyond effectively managing the facility, one way to show appreciation to the Rivers State Government for building the secretariat for journalists is to ensure that it is properly maintained.
“We do not merely want to manage it effectively, we want to ensure that we show modest appreciation to the state government for providing us this edifice by doing everything possible to keep it the way it is.
“The only way to get the best hand to manage the building is to create room for people to bid for it, so that at the end of the day, we can get the best among the lot”, he said.
The chairman emphasised that beginning from tomorrow, those interested in managing the building can get in touch with the secretary at the Ernest Ikoli Press Centre, Moscow Road.
He added that collection of the bid form will be open between 10am and 3pm, Monday to Friday, stressing that deadline for collection of the form is July 16, 2015
