Wike Reassures On Campaign Promises
Rivers State Governor,
Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has restated his commitment to fulfill his
campaign promises to the people of the state.
Speaking during a Special Thanksgiving Service by the Grassroots Development Initiative, (GDI), in Port Harcourt, Wike said that the state has
entered into a new phase of development under his administration.
He said: “All the campaign promises I made in different communities were duly documented and my administration is committed to fulfilling these promises.
“Already, we have started by opening the courts and reviving the legislature. We have earmarked key roads in the state for construction and we have commenced the Operation Zero Potholes for Port Harcourt City. We are cleaning the huge refuse dumps left by the immediate past administration with all key machinery of government reinvented to serve the people of Rivers State”.
The governor, who was represented by Nigeria’s Ambassador to South Korea, Ambassador Desmond Akawor, assured that he would entrench good governance in the state after years of failed leadership.
He praised the leadership and members of the GDI for fighting for the enthronement of democracy in Rivers State, when they courageously worked for freedom of association and promotion of democratic rights in the face of impunity under the outgone administration.
He said: “GDI helped the people of Rivers State to overcome the dark ages of the immediate-past administration. “
In his remarks, Secretary General of the GDI, Nwanosike Samuel said the group will support the new administration in the state as it believes its agenda for the rural communities will help transform the state.
Chief of Staff to the Governor, Emeka Woke commended the GDI for fighting for the enthronement of democracy, urging the group to support the administration as it rights the wrongs of the immediate-past administration.
The Thanksgiving Service, which was held at the Saint Andrews Anglican Church, Rumuola, attracted members of the Rivers State House of Assembly, commissioners-designate, PDP chieftains, youth and women groups.
