Remains Of Ex-Tide Editor Go Home This Weekend
A pioneer staff of the Riv
ers State Newspaper Corporation (RSNC), and former Editor of The Tide on Sunday, Nze Johnson Nwala is dead.
Nwala who died on 19th November, 2014 at the age of 101 years would be buried this weekend in his home town, Opiro in Etche Local Government Area of Rivers State.
The deceased who joined RSNC in 1971 and retired in 1996 was also a one-time Chairman of the Rivers State Council of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ)
Nwala was also a former President of Etche United Peoples Club and foundation member of Ogbakor Etche, the foremost socio-cultural organisation in Etche land.
The Chairman of Rivers NUJ, Opaka Dokubo described the late Nwala as peace-loving and a veteran whose wealth of experience was of great benefit to the State Council of NUJ in particular and the society in general
He consoled members of the bereaved family and urged them to emulate the exemplary life he lived while on earth.
A statement signed by a son of the deceased, Prince Nwala Emmanuel said the body will leave the Military Hospital this Friday to be received by the State Executive of NUJ and Journalists in the State at the New NUJ Secretariat Complex, while the remains of the ex-Editor would be interred Saturday which will be preceded with a traditional wake-keep on Friday.
