Don Tasks Rivers Gov-Elect On Blueprint Implementation
A University teacher,
Dr. Sam Kalagor has called on the Governor-elect of Rivers State, Chief Nyesom Wike to be committed to the delivery of his electoral promises to Rivers people by implementing the development objectives outlined in his development blueprint.
Kalagor, who spoke with newsmen in Port Harcourt, said “ it is the desire of Rivers people to witness a new era of economic prosperity in the state under the new political dispensation that is to commence from May 29th 2015.”
Kalagor who is also stalwart of the Peoples Democratic Party,(PDP) said the governor-elect should give priority attention to job creation, poverty alleviation and enterpreneural development., infrastructure development and harnessing of the enormous natural resources in the state for sustainable economic growth.
Describing Rivers State as the hub of oil and gas in the country, the university don also called for concerted efforts among all stakeholders, to explore the potentials in the oil and gas sector, through the passage and domestication of the petroleum industry bill.
He stressed the need for putting Rivers State on its right pedestal in this important sector of economic development.
He was optimtic that the comparative advantage of Rivers State in the oil and gas sector would herald economic boom in the state if fully harnessed.
He also called on Rivers people to give the Governor-elect their maximum support to enable him succeed in delivering the dividends of democracy in the state.
