GPHCDA Lists Criteria For Land Ballot
The Administrator of Greater Port Harcourt Development Authority, Dame Aleruchi Cookey Gam has debunked speculations that many of the winners at the Greater Port Harcourt Development Area land balloting were non Rivers indigenes, stating that the exercise was not politicised.
Dame Cookey Gam disclosed this while speaking with The Tide in an interview shortly after a thanksgiving and dedication service at Christ Church in Port Harcourt last Friday.
The Administrator pointed out that the ballot was conducted in various categories such as the political class, civil/public servants, the business class and non-indigenes, and explained that 85% concession was given to indigenes, while 15% was given to non-indigenes residents in Rivers State to given them a sense of belonging.
Cookey Gam, who assured the commitment of the Authority the successful implementation of the Greater Port Harcourt Masterplan, said development control drive will be intensified, as those who succeeded in the land ballot would commence development of their properties this year; following the completion of documentation process.
She said the thanksgiving exercise was to rededicate the authority to God, and tasked staff to put in their best for the service of Rivers State.
Also speaking the Chairman of the Board of Greater Port Harcourt development Authority, Arch. Tonye Patrick Cole assured that the Authority will not rest on its oars in achieving is statutory objective which is sustainable implementation of the development masterplan.
The board chairman called for the support of all stakeholders to achieve the vision and development objective in Rivers state.
In his homily, the Resident Minister of Christ Church, Rev. Dr. Kaleb Uche, said the dedication and thanksgiving by the Greater Port Harcourt Development Authority was a mark of gratitude to God.
The cleric said the authority would record high success in its corporate objectives this year as they have received God’s blessing.
