RSSDA Boosts Agric, SMEs
The Rivers State
Sustainable Development Agency (RSSDA) says it has sown the seeds for Agricultural and Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) revolution in the state.
The Chairman, Board of the Agency, Rev. Precious Omuku who acknowledged this in an interview with newsmen shortly after a tour of projects embarked upon by the Agency, said that the feats achieved by the Agency in both agriculture and SMEs were key to major economic transformation in any society.
He said that the Board which comprises of technocrats would bring its wealth of experience to bear on the administration of the RSSDA. Rev. Omuku also said that the people of Rivers State would soon begin to feel the impacts of what the Agency had done in the state.
The Chairman said that the Board would source for external fundings to improve the finances of the Agency stressing that the Board would harness all sources of funding for the Agency.
Meanwhile the Rivers state Sustainable Development Agency (RSSDA) has expressed readiness to evacuate all squatters in the Agro support centre Onne with the view to expanding the centre.
The Executive Director/Chief executive Officer of the Agency Mr. Noble Pepple who said this in an interview with newsmen during an inspection of facilities by the Board said that the centre which was donated to the Agency by the Rivers State University of Science and technology (RSUST) would be used for the purpose for which it is meant.
He said that the Agency had made giant effort to better the lot of the people, noting that the challenge since inception had been initiating of the right programmes that would have positive impacts on the people.
According to him, the programmes initiated by the RSSDA if fully harnessed would bring about Sustainable development to the people.
The facilities that were inspected by the board include, the Workmanship Technical Training centre (WTTC) Bori, the DADTCO Rivers Cassava Processing Company at Afam and the Rivers Songhai project at Bunu-Tai.

Technology Key to Nigeria’s Socio-Economic Development, Says Computer Scientist
Dr. Legborsi Emmanuel, former state Chairman of the Nigeria Computer Society (NCS), has emphasized that technology is the sure way for Nigeria’s socio-economic development.
He made this assertion while speaking with newsmen at the sideline of 118th inaugural lecture series of Rivers State University (RSU) held in port Harcourt, wednesday.
He stressed that the lecture, which focused on emerging technology and its impact on the socio-economic development of the country, aligns with the NCS’s economic focus.
He highlighted the importance of building an economy driven by technology, citing the success of the Rivers State Smart Economy policy as an example.
The computer scientist emphasized the need for innovation and doing things differently, asserting that “technology is the only way out” for Nigeria’s development. He praised the lecturer, Professor Mathias Daniel, for exploring the applications of technology in various sectors, including agriculture, industry, transport, and socio-economics.
Dr. Emmanuel underscores the critical role technology plays in driving socio-economic growth and development in Nigeria by leveraging technology, the country can unlock new opportunities and address pressing challenges.
