RSG Dismisses Rumour On Ambassador Nne Kurubo School
The Rivers State Gov
ernment has described as false, the rumour that reptiles have taken over the Ambassador Nne Furo Kurubo Model Secondary School, Ebubu Eleme.
The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education, Dr. Michael Minabelem West told newsmen in Port Harcourt that the rumour was the handiwork of detractors.
Dr. West said that the school which recorded a hundred percent result in the just concluded 2013/2014 West African Examination Council (WAEC) had the highest standard of education in the state.
Meanwhile, the management of Ambassador Nne Furo Kurubo Model Secondary School, Ebubu Eleme has warned against bringing politics into education.
The Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Educomp Solution Limited Mr. Shantaram Hegdekatte who said this in a press briefing at the school premises said that bringing politices into education was dangerous for the society.
Mr Hegdekatte said that it was unthinkable for people to insinuate that school was infested with snakes, stressing that, it would mean that he would be risking his life, that of his entire family as well as the staff and students as all of them were resident in the school premises.
He said that the effort of Governor Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi in bringing quality education to Rivers people must be appreciated by all irrespective of political affiliations, saying since 90 percent of children in the school are from Rivers State, it beholves on Rivers people to rise up and protect the school.
According to him, apart from ensuring regular cleanliness of the school, the management also ensures its fumigation to keep away insects and rodents.
He said that the management had deployed the right level of technology to ensure international best practices in teaching and learning.
Some students who also spoke to newsmen described the rumour of reptiles in the school as false.
