Journalists Told To Emulate Obasiolu
A veteran journalist,
late Wonukwuru Obasiolu has been lauded for his immense contributions to the journalism profession.
Speaking at a one day memorial lecture organised in honour of the deceased, the chairman of the occasion, Dr Mike E Okocha said the late journalist would be remembered both as a teacher and journalists who was dedicated to his job.
He lauded the effort of the daughter of the late journalist for organising such programme in honour of her late father.
In her welcome address, the founder of the Obasiolu Foundation and Daughter of the late journalist, Dr Cefort Obasiolu Ige expressed gratitude to God for making the event a success and also thanked all who honoured her invitation in spite of their busy schedules.
She further commended all those who in one way or the other relived the contributions to the well-being of the society, saying “We all want to continue remembering our father, friend, colleague and brother, Mr Wonukwuru Obasiolu.
According to her, the Obasiolu Foundation which was launched in 2008 does not in any way contradict the effort of immortalising his name rather, it is another complementary medium to achieving the same objective.
Presenting the lecture on behalf of Professor Simeon Achinewho, Chief Chris Akani who spoke on the effect of the civil war on the Ikwerre nationality said that the Ikwerre people were marginalised under Biafra which resulted in the painful loss of Wonukwuru.
He however called on the people to emulate the exemplary lifestyle of late Wonukwuru Obasiolu.
