Mark Demands Full Implementation Of 2014 Budget
Senate President, David Mark, has insisted on the full implementation of the 2014 national budget ahead of the presentation of next year’s Appropriation Bill to the National Assembly.
Mark made this known during the Civil Society Organisations/Non-Governmental Organisations Roundtable at the National Assembly.
The roundtable was convened to follow up the level of implementation recorded in the 2013 budget.
He observed that the importance of full implementation of the national budget to national development cannot be overemphasized.
The Senate President, who was represented at the event by his Special Assistant on NGOs, Nehi Okunmendia, said he has never deviated from his stance on the imperative of the full implementation of the national budget as passed by the National Assembly.
While noting that the objective of budget monitoring exercise was to structure mechanism that would ensure total budget compliance, Mark revealed that the result of the CSOs/NGOS independent monitoring and tracking of budget in their respective zones was expected to contribute to the ongoing debate.
This he said will amount to an acceptable implementation rate of the national budget from an independent and objective point of view.
