Police Summon Agip, Nembe Leaders Over Threat
The Assistant Inspec
tor General of Police in Zone 5 yesterday summoned officials of the Nigerian Agip Oil Company (NAOC) and representatives of six communities in Nembe, Bayelsa State over an alleged plot by youths to blow up pipelines of the Obama Flow Stations operated by Agip.
According to our source, the meeting fixed for today is in response to a petition by representatives of the aggrieved communities of Obama, Olugbobiri and Ogboinbiri over an alleged refusal by Agip oil to honour a contractual agreement reached on pipeline surveillance and anti-illegal bunkering work on pipelines belonging to the flow station and the Tebidaba flow station.
It was gathered that an agreement reached on May 24, 2014 in Port Harcourt, Rivers State was signed by the representatives of the aggrieved communities, Nyenye Kuro Mathias (Obama), David Lyon (Olugbobiri), Tonye Kiri (Ogbonbiri) and Do good (Ogbobiri) and representatives of Agip, Fotana Salvado (CRV Manager) and Giovani Azzarulu (Transport Manager).
