Abia Arrest: IYM Wants PDP Claims Investigated

L-R: Iranian Ambassador to Nigeria, Saeed Koozechi, Iranian Minister of Industry, Mines and Trade/Head of Iranian delegation, Mr Mohammad Nemaizadeh, Minister of State (1) for Foreign Affairs, Prof. Viola Onwuliri and Nigerian Ambassador to Iran, Alhaji Tukur Mani, at the 5th Nigeria-Iran Joint Commission Meeting in Abuja, yesterday
The Ikwerre Youth Movement (IYM) has urged the Inspector General of Police (IGP) and the State Security Service (SSS) to commence investigation into the claims by the Special Assistant on Media to the Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mr. Jerry Needam, that the over 400 suspected Boko Haram members arrested by the Police in Abia State were allegedly brought in by Governor Chibuike Amaechi.
The Emohua Local Government Chapter Coordinator of the movement, Hon. Lucky Worluh, who said this at a press briefing in Port Harcourt, also threatened to sue the security agencies if the allegation was not proven.
Worluh, who is also the Board member 1 of the Rivers State Universal Basic Education Board (UBE) said that, Mr. Jerry Needam must have some information on the arrested Boko Haram members which he does not want the public to know.
He said that Governor Amaechi cannot descend so low to have anything to do with an international terrorist organization such as Boko Haram, noting that the governor cannot destroy what he has labored to build.
According to him, Needam must show proof of what he has said by cooperating with the security agencies with the view to unraveling the mysteries surrounding the arrested Boko Haram suspects in Abia.
Worluh also said that Governor Amaechi deserves commendation for providing employment opportunities for more than 13,000 newly employed teachers who have already been paid.
The IYM Coordinator also warned the Ikwerres against fighting Governor Amaechi, who is their kinsman, noting that the on-going crisis in the state is capable of creating ethnic tension in the state.
Worluh also advised Governor Amaechi to use the 13,000 teachers as a peer review exercise in other States of the Federation.
