PH Disco Assures Of Improved Service
The Port Harcourt
Electricity Distribution Company (PHED) has declared its preparedness to improve power supply to consumers within its areas of operations.
The Public Affairs Manager of PHED, Mr Itaobong Offiong stated this while speaking to our correspondent in Port Harcourt, recently.
He said that with the coming on stream of the Ibom Power Plant in addition to other power plants under the jurisdiction and management control of the company, power situations within the areas of operations of the company would be greatly improved.
He said staff of the company had been working round the clock on electricity installations within the operational areas of the company, stressing that PHED as a private  business concern will not tolerate the business as usual mentality.
Offiong added that the company would partner with its consumers to checkmate the increasing act of vandalisation of electricity installations and other properties of the company.
Meanwhile, some residents of Port Harcourt have appealed to the company to provide meters to the residents to ensure accurate billings.
Mr Chukwuma Ogechi said the high tariff of electricity consumption based on fixed assessment is unacceptable to the consumers.
He said only through the accuracy of meters can electricity consumption tariff be assessed.
Also speaking to our correspondent Mr Nelson Uwakwe  said with the uninterrupted power supply now witnessed since the privatization of Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN) electricity tariff had increased.
He said there were flaws and irregularities in the billing system stressing that such wrong billing system calls for rectification by the company through the provision of meters to its customers.
